ARU VALLEY

One cannot describe the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir merely in a few words. It is often referred to as heaven on earth. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and dreamy weather, Jammu and Kashmir draws in tourists from all over the world. It is home to stunning lakes, snow-clad peaks, lush green meadows and majestic valleys. One such valley which will take your breath away with its unparallel charm and natural beauty is Aru. Aru Valley is a year-round destination and hence, it is visited by locals and seasonal tourists throughout the year. However, the best time to visit is from July to September when its natural beauty is at the peak and the weather is pleasant and favourable. Hence, during this period, one can enjoy the best of Aru Valley.

Located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir in the vicinity of Pahalgam, Aru Valley is a perfect mix of meadows, lakes and mountains and is famous amongst offbeat traveller as a base camp for trekking to Tarsar Lake and Kolhoi Glacier. Even though there are not many places to witness within its boundaries, it is still a weekend destination for several unconventional travellers on account of the presence of scenic landscapes and a delightful environment with zero disturbance.

Horse is available to climb up the valley. One can also climb up and see the beauty of green valley. If visiting in winter months or early summer then this total valley will be full with snow. In peak summer months it’s only green valley. However snow will be available in distance peaks. This is a nice place for trekkers. There is a market near the Aru valley where local products and dresses are available. The village is a base camp for trekkers to the Kolhoi Glacier, the Tarsar-Marsar lakes and the Katrinag valley. It is also a base for the treks to Lidderwat, the Vishansar_Kishansar lakes and Kangan. There are about 20 alpine lakes, peaks and meadows around the Aru Valley.

People should visit the land of adventure with no preconceived notions because this place is surely going to give a lot of surprises. Exploring the exotic flora and fauna that makes Aru Valley unique and famous as a hot spot for bio diversity best known to mankind. Kashmir has undergone a major transformation over the past few years leaving behind a turbulent past to evolve as a major tourist destination again in India. Kashmir inherits an opulent culture coupled with perfect destinations for all thrill seekers. It is fortunate enough to get the opportunity to visit the Aru Valley.
