KHANQAH BULBUL SHAH
It is situated on the right bank of Jhelum, 200 metres below Aali Kadal and is the earliest known Khanqahs of Kashmir. The Khanqah was built by a Buddhist turned Muslim ruler, Sultan Sadar-ud-Din for his peer, Syed Sharaf-ud-Din Bulbul Shah at whose hands the Sultan embraced lslam. Syed Sharaf-ud-Din Bulbul Shah had come to Kashmir from Turkistan during the reign of Suhadev (1301-19). It was a three storied wooden shrine used as Jamia Masjid up to 1604. In 1604, the Khanqah was gutted in fire when Mirza Akbar Ali was the Mughal Governor, but was rebut by his followers very quickly. As per Malik Haider Chadoora the Khanqah existed up to 1620. As per Bates, the Khanqah was existing in deteriorated shape upto 1885 when it was taken over by Archives Department and was rebuilt.
