KILLING OF INNOCENT TURNS INTO A STORM
This is a story of a beautiful family of Fayaz Ahmad, his wife and daughter. They lived inthe town of Bandipura. Fayaz Ahmad, a police constable in the town was leading apeaceful and satisfying life. Fayaz’s family comprised of his wife, Raja Begum ana a 22year old daughter, Rafia. They lived together in Hariparigam in Awantipora district inSouth Kashmir, located 50 kms from Srinagar. On the night of 27th June, Fayaz Ahmad was enjoying a beautiful dinner with his family.Suddenly, they heard something, which at first didn’t sound alarming. But at that they were unaware of the horror that was unfolding. The next moment, militants barged intotheir house and opened fire on the family. The calm and peaceful evening suddenly
turned into despair. Injured Fayaz begged the militants to spare his wife and daughter’slife. The militants fired again and silenced the cries of Fayaz Ahmad. Fayaz’s wife heldon to her daughter, trying to protect in her arms, but the militants fired another bullet andkilled her. What seemed to be a beautiful dream, turned into a dreadful nightmare.Fayaz Ahmad’s daughter also succumbed to her injuries in the hospitalFayaz Ahmad laid down his life and made the supreme sacrifice while serving hismotherland. The militants tried to silence a Hero but instead they triggered a roar that was heard across the entire valley.This act of brutality and terror brought a storm in the entire valley. It ignited a rage in the local population of the town and nearby localities – “Enough Is Enough Now”. The residents of Bandipora started a movement against this inhumane act. People are coming out on streets to show their solidarity and support towards fight against violence and terrorism in the valley. A Kashmiri just want to sleep peacefully in the night after working hard all day to make a living. Is that too much to ask for ? I don’t think so and I am sure neither do you ! Fayaz Ahmad was widely loved by the locals of the area. People turned out in hugenumbers to pay their respects to the Hero of Kashmir. The movement ignited by the
martyrdom of Fayaz Ahmad, could prove to be the turning point in the history of worst affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Sunrises would be more serene and sunsets would be more peaceful and life would be more beautiful for a Kashmiri, once the terror and fear gets vanished, and the paradise on earth would feel like “Jannat” again.
