MISGUIDANCE OF KASHMIRI YOUTH BEING FINANCED

True measure of the strength of a Nation is its youth population. If the energy of youth can be diverted in a right direction than there is nothing that a nation can’t achieve. Key word here is “right direction”, failure to do so can be disastrous not only for present but even for the future as well.

In the erstwhile state of J&K in the name of special status powerful few ensured no major investment by industrialist was made in the state and at the same time marginal land owners were deprived of deserving rates of precious fertile land proportionate to the rates prevailing in other states. This not only allowed these elite few to amass massive land holdings and control major businesses and industries in the state but also denied educated youth an opportunity to get a decent earning job close to their home.

The economically weak youth full of energy and ideas became puppet in their hands and were easily misguided by these few elite political class for their personal agenda of ensuring disturbance in the state. They were lured ffor easy money for engaging in riots and stone pelting as well as picking up arms.

As per report published in leading national daily security agencies in their inquiry identified 13 terror financers including Hizbul Mujahideen founder Syed Salahuddin, Hurriyat leaders and businessmen, who were allegedly providing funds to terrorists and stone pelters at the behest of Pakistan spy agency ISI. As per report funds were provided to,” leadership of Kashmir based terrorist groups for misguiding, motivating and recruiting local youths to militant ranks”. These funds were used for maintaining Hurriyat’s top leadership and a massive propaganda machinery to arouse disaffection among the people of Jammu and Kashmir against the centre. It was also being utilized to spread false information through media contacts, newspapers and social media. These in turn are used to instigate and lure misguided and financially weak youths to resort to anti-national activities.

Abrogation of article 370 needs to be followed up by aggressive investment and setting up of industries in the state by big industrialists at the national level. This will lead to availability of ample job opportunity to all variety of youth based on their qualification and skill. The govt of the day was involved in moving forward in this direction, however, COVID 19 pandemic halted the progress of these reform activities. Govt at the centre along with state administrative machinery is committed to ensure development and progress o the state in shortest possible timeframe, however keeping in mind current situation we need to grant some more time all concerned. Till than the populace needs to maintain patience and have faith in the system.
