RUSTAM PEER BABA
The shrine is located at Rustum, 20 kms from Baramulla towards Uri on the National Highway. According to history and local lore, the region was in the grip of a severe famine in the year 1886 due to deficient rainfall over a couple of years. To overcome the crisis, Hazrat Rustam came to this region and undertook penance and meditation. It is a popular belief that RustamPeer Baba’s penance led to heavy rainfall which brought peace and prosperity to the region. One night after a few years, Hazrat Rustam suddenly disappeared and was never seen again. Since that day. Rustam Peer Baba is worshipped by one and all.
