Areshva Aisha Mir : STORY OF HOPE

In the defaming accusations made by many about the condition of Kashmir, there are few examples which stand out. The condition in the valley has improved manifolds and the youth and people of the Kashmir are no more identifying with the unproductive and divisive ideologies of some of the people whose interests lies in perpetuating unrest in the valley. The continuous efforts of Indian Army over the years have broken the ice and brought Army and Awaam closer. The biggest achievement is that it has helped restore peace and bring normalcy back in Kashmir. Hence, people have been able to resume their normal lives and focus on their goals and inspiration. To corroborate this fact is the inspiring story of Areshva Aisha Mir, a young and promising girl who has brought laurels to Kashmir and India.

Areshva Aisha Mir, a young and promising girl from Srinagar has made us all proud by obtaining 489 out of 500 marks in her class XII CISCE –  2020  (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) and also secured admission in an Ivy League College in Rhode Island in the United States. Passing the coveted board examinations with flying colours, Ms Areshva secured 100 percent marks in Political Science, Environmental Science and Sociology.

In her Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Ms Areshva has obtained 800 out of 800 marks in Mathematics. Overall, her SAT score was 1540 out of 1600. This is how this proud Kashmiri girl booked a berth in the prestigious Brown University in Province, Rhode Island in the United States. Brown University is an Ivy League university. The Ivy league refers to an elite group of long-established universities in eastern US having high academic and social prestige. It includes Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and Brown. Ms Areshva is an alumnus of esteemed Mayo college situated in the Indian state of Rajasthan. With excellent command over English language, she has enjoyed a well-earned reputation as a debater and public speaker at Mayo College. Ms Areshva, aged 18, has keen interest in Environmental Journalism. The subject of climate change remains very close to her heart. As an avid reader, Ms Areshva enthusiastically follows global relations, geopolitics and environment. Moreover she nurtures a strong passion for writing, art and music.

This story brings forth the conducive environment present in Kashmir which lets the youth achieve such great milestones. With time there are greater heights waiting to be conquered by the Kashmiri youth.Such examples will serve as guiding beacon to motivate local youth to excel holistically and will bring a positive change in the valley.
