ZIARAT: HAJI ARIFA
Ziarat of Haji Arifa popularly known as Haji Dedi (meaning respected old lady) is located atop a picturesque hilltop adjacent to Kreerevillage in Dooru tehsil. Haji Arifa came to the Kashmir valley approximately 500 years ago from Mecca during the reign of Bulbul Shah. She was 18 years old and, along with her parents stayed at Voy village (currently in Kokernag Tehsil). When villagers became aware that she hailed from mecca,they started visiting and she also started getting proposals for marriage. Being a spiritually, she was fed up of this unwanted attention. Her mental peace was disturbed and she fell ill. She came to live atop the hill where the Ziarat is located and breathed her last in 993 Hijri(approximately 1585 AD). A tomb was constructed atop the hill and she was laid to rest. When her parents too passed away after some years, their tombs were also located atop her tomb as she had desired.
