During the reign of Gazi Chak (1555-63), a local Kashmiri Saint Sheikh Hamza Makhdoomi stayed for some in village‘Aham’ and built a mosque there for his prayers and the village since then came to be known as Aham Sharief. Hassan writes that the village was a ‘Guzargah Jalul Gaib’ while Baba Dawood Khaki writes about the mosque as ‘Ibadatgahi Rijalul Gaib’. Masjid is 8 feet square from inside and 6 feet in height. Hay sticks have been used in ceiling covered by mud plaster (mixture of clay with rice husk). In the centre of the mosque there is a 6 feet heigh, 2 feet diameter pillar with rounding top touching the ceiling. In left and right of the Pelvit two shelves from each side overlap eacn other. Inthe North and South walls of the mosque there are 2 small windows (one in each wall). Inside mosque there are two small mats made of paddy grass which are said to have been used by Makhdoom saheb as Jainamaz (prayer mat). In 1877 (1294 Hijri), a devotee namely Amanullah got it repaired and the mosque was mud plastered in delicate way and the outer walls were face lifted with delicate designing. A coat of mud plaster has also been applied to its ceiling as well. The roof made of burza (birch bark tree) was also repaired and the mosque had a wooden brang in pinjra work. It was during the same period that a Gulam gardish (circumambulatory) was added to it that gave the shape of a Shrine. Some coupliets are written on a wooden plank which is fitted over the gate indicating the date of repairs.  In 1978 the local Waqfcommittee undertook its enlargement. The earlier Shrinewas decorated and beautified with mirrors and glass. The plinth area of two and a half feet has been covered by white tiles. Gulam gardish has also been enlarged. In the small apartment of the first floor some sacred items are preserved which are said to be that of the Amama Sharief and Jamia Mubarak of Prophet Muhammad.

The shrine has modern designed tin roof with a breng fitted with earlier Pinjra windows. The coping cap fitted in the brings also of old Shrine. People assemble here for night long prayers on the Urs of Makhdoom Saheb every year on 24 Safar. The disciple of Makhdoom Saheb, Baba DawoodKhaki has built a mosque by the Southern side of the shrine which is 13 feet by 12 ½ feet.
