SHEIKH ADNAN FAYAZ
Mr Sheikh Adnan Fayaz is an international Taekwondo gold medalist from a remote village in Bandipora. He has represented India three times at international level and won two gold and one silver medal. He has also won several medals at state and national level championship. Mr Sheikh Adnan Fayaz is currently registered with World Taekwondo Federation.
As a child, Mr Adnan was shy and introvert and mostly self-centered. After joining Taekwondo there was a massive transformation in his personality. He joined Taekwondo classes under Mr Fasil Ali Dar at Ali Sports Academy. Mr Adnan learnt the tricks of the trade from Mr Fasil and having mastered it to some extent by participating at competitions at state level and then further proceeded to national and international level. Mr Adnan is of the opinion that he has grown confident after all these hardships across his way to success.
Mr Adnan’s biggest support system are his parents and his coach Mr Fasil who also happens to be the President’s Awardee. When asked about the motivation to play, the reply was love for the country. He is of the opinion that it’s a matter of pride for him to play for his country. With such notable achievements, it is evident that the potential of the youth specially inclined towards sports is praiseworthy. Sportsman like Adnan are making the country proud by achieving heights at international level and such personality will motivate and help the youth of the valley to contribute towards progress of nation.
